Buffett Road Hounds - Enjoy Alpine Valley for 5 years!
The Buffett Road Hounds are just a group of fun mature middle aged adults growing older but not up! Each year there are some of the same people, new people, and sometimes strange people who join our group. We travel via MotorCoach Charter Bus to Wisconsin the weekend of Jimmy Buffetts concert.
We have always stayed in Janesville, WI on Fri & Sat. night. Recently, our hotel has been the Holiday Inn - Express. They keep the pool open for us late and have an excellent breakfast in the morning.
On Saturday, we load up on the bus and travel to Alpine Valley Music Center. Usually leaving around 11:00 AM, we stop over at the Best Western to watch our favorite Hawiian...The Whaleshark perform. The Whaleshark is Eric Pietsch, and he plays some great party music...naturally very Jimmy Buffett style! From there, we ride to Alpine. Arriving around 2:00 PM; we have a full afternoon of playing games, socializing, applying and receiving tatoos (Wilson's deal), and walking around the HUGE venue to see all the different parrotheads partying. The tailgate is probably just as fun as the concert. The concert starts around 8PM and we typically mossy in around 7:00 to get a decent seat. Our tickets are always General Admission...which means we sit on the lawn. The Lawn is this HUGE grassy hill area that probably holds about 35,000 people. We always sit on the Left Side right along the stairway...naturally so it's easier for us to reach the bathrooms and buy some beer!
After the concert, we meet back at the bus and it takes our sorry butts back to the hotel...where usually everyone is ready to pass out! Sunday morning is typically much more somber as we load up around 10 and head home. The weekend is a blast of fun, friends, and sites you just won't see anywhere else in the world. Alpine Valley is by far, the best place to see a Jimmy Buffett concert. If you've never done it...why not join the Buffett Road Hounds this year and come along? It's a Blast!
